The Adidas Supernova Rise 3 is a $140 daily trainer. This latest update brings an 8mm drop (down from 10), deletes the clunky support rods and features an updated version of Dreamstrike+ foam, and competes with shoes like the ASICS Novablast 5 ($150) and the Brooks Ghost 17 ($150). This version comes in at a slightly lighter weight and they removed the EVA carrier, which allows the foam to really shine. The ride experience is smooth, comfortable, bouncy, and fun, which is not something you often find in a standard daily trainer. The midsole is really nice—it has the potential to be one of the best training foams on the market. It has just enough pep without making you run too fast and it is easy to run relaxed, recovery paces. Unfortunately, the upper feels very unrefined, unpolished, and extremely rough around the edges with a scratchy and slightly baggy upper and a really thin tongue that caused some lace bite on the run. While not as protective and cushioned as a max stack daily trainer, if you are looking for a workhorse daily trainer with a fun and bouncy ride, the Supernova Rise 3 is a great pick.
