The Kiprun Kipstorm Tempo is a dual-foam trainer designed for speed. At $170, it competes with shoes like the Adidas Boston 13 ($160) and the Saucony Endorphin Azura ($150). This will be Kiprun’s first speed trainer or workout shoe to debut in the US. It features a non-plated dual-foam midsole with Kiprun’s ATPU foam on top with an EVA carrier to stabilize the foam and to act like a plate, providing some rigidity and snap. Like the other Kiprun shoes we’ve tried, the Tempo runs large and we would recommend going down a half to a full size. While Kiprun is not marketing it as a daily trainer or long run shoe, we found it to be quite versatile on the run. It definitely has enough stack and protection in the heel and forefoot to be a good long run shoe, enough snap and pop off the forefoot to be good for picking up the pace, and it is light and stable without the use of a plate, making it a great uptempo daily trainer. We look forward to testing it for some faster efforts and workouts, but so far we have found it to be a comfortable, lightweight, and protective shoe with a nice rocker geometry and good speed assistance.
