The Mizuno Neo Vista 3 is a max-cushioned training shoe designed for long runs. Priced at $200, it competes with shoes like the Hoka Skyward X 2 ($225) and ASICS Superblast 3 ($200). The Neo Vista 3 is very similar to the previous version, with a few minor updates that will likely make it more approachable and appealing to more runners. This version has a more structured heel counter with additional padding around the Achilles. The Enerzy NXT top layer of foam and the bottom layer of EVA foam remain unchanged from the previous version. It still has a plastic plate to add some stability and pop, though Mizuno reports that it is shaped slightly differently. Upon step-in, the underfoot foam feels very comfortable, and the booty upper fits well, especially lengthwise. Some members of our team thought it fit a bit snug across the width of the forefoot and over the top of the foot. Out on the run, the shoe felt very similar to the previous version, which is a good thing since we really enjoyed the v2. We expect it will soften up and break in over time, but the foam felt slightly firmer and with a more subtle bounce than we remembered from the v2. Its standout qualities are the significant rocker, heel bevel, and Goldilocks foam that is softer than the foam in the Skyward X 2 and firmer than the FF Leap in the Superblast 3. If you are looking for a reliable, comfortable, max-stack cruiser with great cushion, protection, and a smooth rocker, the Neo Vista 3 is a great choice. We anticipate using it for long runs, recovery runs, and for stacking daily miles.
