The Saucony Ride 19 is a workhorse daily trainer designed for reliability. At $145, it competes with models like the Nike Vomero 18 ($155) and the ASICS Novablast 5 ($150). With the 19th version of the Ride, Saucony, once again, promised a bouncy, plush, fun daily trainer, so our hopes were high. It weighed in about 15 grams lighter than the previous version, which was promising. The step-in feel was not plush, but also not uncomfortable with nice padding around the tongue. On the run we found the foam to be firm with decent bounce, especially if you could put more force down into it. Overall it is a very simple, bland and average shoe—there is nothing fun or exciting about it. It is hard to recommend to anyone due to the fact that it is swagless, somewhat lifeless and incredibly boring. If you are looking for a very vanilla running shoe for runs less than an hour and you like the reliability of the Saucony Ride series, this shoe will be just fine.
