Given its price point and the fact that it was designed for Adidas’ elite athletes, we were surprised by how approachable it felt across a variety of paces during initial testing. The Pro Evo 2 harkens back to the denser, more reliable foam feel of the beloved Adios Pro 3—a shoe we recently inducted into our “Carbon County Legends: Supwell Hall of Fame.” What made the Adios Pro 3 so great—and what makes the Pro Evo 2 equally compelling—isn’t necessarily its raw speed or aggressiveness. You can get raw speed from shoes like the Puma Fast-R 3, ASICS Metaspeed Sky Paris, or Nike Streakfly 2, all priced over $200 less. What sets the Pro Evo 2 apart is its solidity: the feeling of structure, groundedness, and a robust underfoot platform that remains unmatched in the race-day segment. The Pro Evo 2 also features some standout geometry—36 mm of Lightstrike Pro Evo foam in the forefoot, a 3 mm heel-to-toe offset, and an early rocker point (60% from the heel). This design excels at locking into marathon pace or slightly faster and clicking off miles without having to put too much mustard into the shoe, while still delivering a ride that’s cushioned and stable enough to withstand the full 26.2. The Pro Evo 2 reminds us of a Brooks Glycerin Max calibrated to be a marathon weapon—making it a great option for a wide range of runners, despite the narrative Adidas has built around it. The only question is: can you stomach the astronomical $500 price point?
