The Adidas Supernova Prima 2 is a cushioned everyday running shoe designed for comfort and versatility. Priced at $160, it competes with models like the Nike Vomero 18 ($155) and Hoka Bondi 9 ($170). Version 2 brings some minor updates over the original, including a more breathable upper, a stretchier tongue, and a slightly softer tuned foam. During initial testing, we found the new tongue improved step-in comfort, though it could still benefit from more padding. The Dreamstrike+ foam—a PEBA blend intended to be slightly softer than in version 1—felt very similar to the original. While the foam feels nice underfoot, the overall experience is somewhat muted by the EVA carrier outsole. The ride is pleasant—not too soft, not too firm—with a smooth rocker geometry, but it doesn’t stand out from the competition. Thanks to its lighter weight, it’s more versatile than shoes like the Gel-Nimbus 27 or Vomero 18 and holds up well when picking up the pace, but you don't get the same max-cushioned comfort. Given Adidas’ strong lineup of daily trainers—including the EVO SL, SL2, Ultraboost, and Supernova Rise—the Prima 2 feels a bit lost in the mix. If you’re looking for a single shoe to handle most of your running needs, it’s a decent option. But if you enjoy a larger rotation, this one is unlikely to shine. Since the updates from the first version are minimal, we’d recommend keeping an eye out for the original on sale if you’re curious about the Supernova Prima line.
