The Li-Ning Chaoying Pro aka the Super Shadow is a lightweight daily trainer designed for up-tempo runs, competing with the R.A.D Synth and Adidas Evo SL. There is not a lot of information out there yet on this shoe, but we measured our pair to have 40mm of foam in the heel, but it comes in at a very light 230 grams in our Men’s size 10.5. The upper is very performance-oriented and does not have a lot of extra padding. Compared to the other Li-Ning shoes we’ve tried, the fit is very snug and there is not a lot of extra room in the toe box in terms of volume or length. It is likely constructed of a dual-density PEBA foam and does not have a plate. Out on the run, we found the foam to be on the firmer side, but it is very protective and responsive, especially as we picked up the pace and moved onto the midfoot and forefoot. The ride is very smooth and it feels quite stable. We anticipate it will be good for faster daily miles, hill sprints, and interval-style workouts. If you like a softer, bouncier foam with a higher stack, the Red Hare 9 Ultra from Li-Ning would be a better option.
