The Li-Ning Feidian 5 Ultra is China’s original “illegal” shoe. Even with a denser midsole foam, it weighs about 10% less than its successor. Its midsole geometry is also more aggressive than the 6 Ultra, with a rocker positioned farther forward to promote a more aggressive, forward-leaning stance. As with the other Li-Ning shoes we’ve tested, the upper leaves something to be desired; however, they’ve proven more than capable of producing top-tier midsoles. The 5 Ultra delivers the kind of protection and underfoot stability that hobby joggers loved in the Adios Pro 3, but blends it with the soft, energetic bounce of the Adios Pro 4 and the geometry of the original Saucony Endorphin Elite.
