The Mizuno Hyperwarp Pro is a race shoe designed for support and speed over long distances. Priced at $250, it competes with shoes like the Hoka Rocket X3 ($250) and Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 ($230). The Hyperwarp Pro is the third, and least aggressive, in Mizuno’s new line of race shoes. The Elite and Pure are more aggressive, while the Pro is designed to carry on the more stability and approachable legacy of the Pro Rebellion Pro 3 Lo. They retained the bevel from the Pro Rebellion Pro 3 Lo with 100% of the firmer, more stability-oriented TPEE foam. The geometry and the foam are designed to provide more stability and protection compared to the other two Hyperwarp shoes. It has a more comfortable upper than the Pro 3 Lo and is about 8% lighter than its predecessor while retaining 40mm of stack in the heel. Stepping in, the fit is true to size with a slightly low volume toe box and a sensation of a mid-foot bump. Out on the run, it feels extremely protective with a firmer foam sensation, and the mid-foot bump forces you up on your toes. It has less snap and aggression off the forefoot than the Pure and the Elite—and is a bit more workmanlike. It is definitely missing some of the pop and fun of the other two Hyperwarp shoes. It has a similar vibe to all of the Rebellion Pro shoes as it comes alive when you get on the forefoot, but the original versions are potentially better. It provides a nice blend of the protective cushion with the speed-assistance, but it’s not going to be for everyone.
