New Balance SC Elite v6

The New Balance SC Elite v6 is a marathon race shoe designed for speed and comfort. Priced at $275, it competes with shoes like the Topo Specter Elite ($250) and the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4 ($250). The SC Elite v6 has a similar spirit to the previous version in terms of the overall look and geometry, but this iteration has more of a lifestyle aesthetic in addition to a more prominent heel bevel, and less padding around the ankle. The midsole foam was also updated to an ATPU, called Infinion, from the PEBA in the v5. New Balance was able to reduce the weight, but it still comes in at 208 grams in our Men’s US size 10.5. It is slightly low volume in the toe box, but it fits true to size. Despite these changes, out on the run we found the ride and vibe to be very similar to the previous version, which is overall a good thing since the v5 was one of our favorite marathon training shoes of 2025, especially for long runs. It is very comfortable, it doesn’t feel too tall or weird, it works well no matter where you are landing on the platform or whether you are running relaxed or fast, and the foam is soft and bouncy. The heel is a little less substantial and the forefoot might feel a little more firm and responsive, but those differences are not super noticeable. While it is still not one of the fastest marathon race shoes on the market, if you are looking for a shoe for high volume marathon training or a comfortable, approachable and enjoyable long run or race shoe, the SC Elite v6 is a great choice.
