Below we are breaking down what we know about the all new SpeedShifter race shoe from Reebok and letting you know what we thought after the first run.

In the biggest surprise of 2026, Reebok is dropping a carbon plated super shoe. The Speedshifter features an ATPU midsole and is priced at $220. The looks also harken back to old school Reebok trainers. Is this primed to compete with the big dogs or will Reebok have to catch up to the pack?

Reebok has not disclosed the stack height of the SpeedShifter, but it is estimated to be around 36mm in the heel with an 8mm drop.
The SpeedShifter midsole is comprised of a dual-density ATPU midsole foam that Reebok is calling HyperFloat, along with a full-length carbon fiber plate.
In a Men's US sample size 9, the weight is about 7.7 ounces or 218 grams.
The SpeedShifter is undercutting most of the race shoes on the market by coming in at $220 MSRP.

Reebok joins the growing ranks of challenger brands entering the super shoe market in 2026, unveiling a dual-foam ATPU carbon plated racer designed to be an affordable, responsive option for race day. The design draws inspiration from Reebok’s ZigTech visuals that were iconic in the 2010s. Retailing for $220, the Speedshifter significantly undercuts the market standard price range of $250-$275 for super shoes, aiming to deliver accessible race day performance. The shoe’s high abrasion rubber outsole should also make this a durable training tool.
On our first run, we found the SpeedShifter to have a race-day fit with a fairly narrow and tapered toe-box, though it was not too narrow. This may be an issue for people who need more room for their toes to splay or for those with wide feet. If you need more room, we'd suggest the Altra Vanish Carbon 3 or the Topo Specter Elite. The foam is not too firm and is actually somewhat soft underfoot with a really nice and fun bounce. We compared the bounce to that of the Li-Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra. The rocker geometry is also very smooth, making it easy and pleasant to run in. While it is definitely not the lightest or fastest feeling race shoe on the market, it would definitely be an excellent workout or long run, tempo shoe.
