The Nike Vomero Premium is a super max stack shoe designed for comfort and bounce. Priced at $220, it competes with shoes like the Brooks Glycerin Max ($200) and Hoka Skyward X ($225). It is positioned as the premium offering in the Vomero line—it is the most comfortable, fun, and cushioned. It is also the heaviest, coming in even heavier than the Pegasus Premium, and the heaviest performance running shoe we have had come through the Mint Hill shoe market this year. It features a huge (55mm) stack of ZoomX foam and two Air Zoom units—in the heel and forefoot—and a 10mm drop. The step-in feel is great and like the other Vomero shoes, it has a generous and comfortable upper made with high quality materials. During the run, it took us some time to warm up to the shoe due to its heavy weight. By the end of our second run and 20 miles, we had developed an appreciation for it. It is definitely softer, weirder, and bouncier than the competition, but the Air Zoom units make it fun and enjoyable to run in. It is definitely not a fast, lightweight, or nimble shoe, but its ability to provide the utmost in protection is its transcendent quality. It is definitely overbuilt and feels like a lot of shoe on foot, especially at slower paces or when going up hills; but, it is also a super bouncy shoe with a fun, rolling, smooth ride when going down hill or when you can lock into a pace. If you are looking for something that is a new and different experience and you are a running shoe sicko, this shoe will not disappoint. If you want something that is a tried and true experience, this is not it.
