On Cloudsurfer 3

The On Cloudsurfer 3 is a daily trainer designed for comfort and versatility. At $160, it competes with models like the Nike Vomero 18 ($155) and the Hoka Clifton Pro ($165). In this version, On debuted a supercritical foam, that they are calling Surreal, to create the Cloudtec midsole. We were a bit nervous stepping into the shoe because not only is it on the heavy side for a daily trainer, but it also felt very firm underfoot. It lacks the comfort and plush feeling that we like in a daily trainer. The fit is true to size and there is plenty of room in the midfoot and forefoot. Out on the run we were pleasantly surprised to find that the ride was smooth and there was no ground feel. It feels very protective with such a firm and stable platform and there are suggestions of peppiness that make the ride pleasant. If you are looking for a shoe that is good for walking, errands, and running a few days a week, and you like On as a brand, the Cloudsurfer 3 is a really solid shoe.
