The Hoka Clifton Pro is a new daily trainer designed for comfort and versatility over long miles. Priced at $165, it competes with models like the Saucony Triumph 24 ($170) and the Brooks Glycerin 23 ($175). On paper, the Clifton Pro has similar specs to the Clifton 11, but the Pro has a more aggressive rocker and a supercritical EVA foam that should provide more bounce and durability for high mileage training than the compression molded EVA used in the standard Clifton. The step in feel is fantastic. The upper is very comfortable with good padding around the heel and tongue. Out on the run we were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the shoe. It is comfortable and bouncy with a very smooth rocker geometry. It has the bounce and rockered geometry of the Mach, the softness and comfort of the Clifton, and the protection of the Bondi. If you are looking for an elevated daily trainer with good bounce, a durable and energetic foam that stands up to high mileage, and a comfortable and normal feel, the Clifton Pro is a great option.
