The Brooks Glycerin 23 is a classic daily trainer designed for comfort. Priced at $170, it features a DNA Tuned midsole with a softer heel and firmer forefoot, and competes with shoes like the Nike Vomero Plus ($180) and ASICS Gel-Nimbus 28 ($170). Like the previous version, the Glycerin 23 has the DNA Tuned nitrogen-infused EVA, but in this update they went to an 8mm drop instead of the 10mm drop in the previous version. It is tuned to be more firm in the forefoot and softer in the heel. The step-in feel is incredibly comfortable with a great daily trainer upper with nice padding in the tongue, good stability, and an accommodating fit. While not an exciting shoe, it is a solid workhorse daily trainer with a pleasant, smooth, stable, reliable ride with decent bounce, especially at more relaxed paces and when heel-striking. It is not as enjoyable when trying to run faster paces and get up onto the forefoot, where the foam feels more firm and less bouncy. If you are looking for a simple, normal feeling, cushioned, extremely comfortable daily trainer for walking and daily runs, the Glycerin 23 is a good pick.
