The Nike Vomero Plus is a max-stack, comfort-oriented long-run shoe. Priced at $180, it’s designed to compete with stalwarts like the Puma MagMax ($180) and ASICS Superblast 2 ($200). The Vomero Plus is Nike’s update to the Invincible 3 and part of the new Vomero line, built for cushioned comfort. This is a clear upgrade over its predecessor, with a much higher stack of foam that puts it in line with today’s max-cushion offerings. The foam is also much less soft than in the Invincible 3—not firm, but more in the Goldilocks zone. It features a full midsole of the comfort-oriented ZoomX foam. The step-in feel is firmer than expected for a max-cushion shoe, but the upper is excellent—soft, breathable, and roomy in the toebox. On the run, it delivers a more aggressive ride than the Puma MagMax or Asics Gel-Nimbus 27. The 10mm drop, lack of a significant rocker, and bouncy foam encourage you to get up on your forefoot. It feels best at faster paces with a midfoot-to-forefoot landing. It’s definitely not a pure speed shoe, but it’s also not a laid-back recovery-day option, likely competing more directly with the Superblast 2. Stability is a weak point—the foam doesn’t wrap up around the foot, and the heel feels narrower than many competitors. The outsole grip is also underwhelming, with slightly less traction than ASICS grip and noticeably less than Puma grip. The Vomero Plus is a fun, energetic shoe with great impact protection, the ability to pick up the pace, and arguably the fastest ride among the max-cushion shoes. While it’s not as versatile and stable as the MagMax or as comfortable as the Nimbus 27, runners who enjoy the Novablast or EVO SL will likely enjoy the energetic bounce and geometry of the Vomero Plus.
