The MagMax Nitro is Puma’s super max-stack, non-plated training shoe, built to deliver a bouncy and protective ride for long miles. Priced at $180, it competes with models like the Brooks Glycerin Max ($200) and Hoka Skyward X ($225). This is a great shoe for time on feet—cushioned, comfortable, and with zero risk of bottoming out thanks to the massive stack of Nitrofoam in the forefoot. It’s a bit heavier, but the bounce more than makes up for the extra weight, especially when you're putting some force into it or if you're a heavier runner. The MagMax is both protective and versatile, working well for all foot strikes and a range of paces. It does require a bit of break-in time but gets better the more miles you put on it. The PumaGrip outsole offers excellent durability and solid traction on wet or slick roads. Here at Supwell, we named it our best non-plated long run shoe of 2024. If you're looking for one of the most durable, max-stack shoes on the market, the Puma MagMax is a great choice.
