If you’ve been a long-time follower of the YouTube channel, you’d already know that we loved the Triumph 20 (and 21)—arguably one of the best daily trainers ever made. Unfortunately, version 22 was a serious letdown and not a shoe we could recommend. It was significantly heavier than previous versions, and Saucony swapped out the beaded TPU midsole for their PWRRUN PB foam. With version 23, Saucony managed to cut nearly 40 grams from v22, streamlined the upper, and was more conservative with their outsole rubber placement. However, they kept the PWRRUN PB midsole foam—and that’s where the problems remain. In initial testing, we found the Triumph 23 just as disappointing as its predecessor. The foam is still too firm, the chunky heel and 10mm drop are distracting, and overall, the shoe feels uncomfortable and uninspiring. It’s up against strong competition and lacks a clear identity—caught between the light, fun daily trainer category and the super max-cushion segment. If you're after a bouncy, versatile, and fun daily trainer, we’d recommend checking out the Salomon Aero Glide 3, ASICS Novablast 5, Adidas EVO SL, or Mizuno Neo Zen. And if you’re looking for a max-cushion shoe that’s also great for walking or casual wear, the Nike Vomero 18 and Hoka Bondi 9 are better options.
