ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 TR

The ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 TR is a max-cushioned running shoe with a trail-oriented outsole. Priced at $175, it's designed as a road-to-trail and light hiking option, similar to the ASICS Novablast 5 TR ($150) and Nike Pegasus Trail 5 (often on sale for under $100). The only difference between this version and the standard Gel-Nimbus 27 is a more robust ASICSGRIP outsole rubber, which provides excellent traction on wet surfaces and trails. It has one of the most underrated uppers when it comes to comfort—you get tons of padding in the heel and tongue; however, it’s not the most breathable, which could be an issue in warmer weather. Surprisingly, it’s quite stable despite the big stack of foam, thanks to its wide base and a midsole that strikes a nice balance between not-too-soft and not-too-firm. A smooth rocker and well-designed geometry underfoot give it a more modern, fun ride compared to other max-cushion shoes on the market, such as the Nike Vomero 18. While it's an excellent running shoe, this version might be an even better option for walking or light hiking. If you're looking for a comfortable, cushioned, and protective road-to-trail shoe with solid wet-weather traction, the Gel-Nimbus 27 TR is a great choice.
