Brooks Ghost AMP

The Brooks Ghost Amp is a daily trainer designed for versatility and comfort. Priced at $150, it competes with shoes like the ASICS Novablast 6 ($155) and Puma Deviate Pure Nitro ($150). It features a new EVA/PEBA blend compound that Brooks is calling DNA HYPE. It fits true to size with nice padding on the tongue and upper, and it has a decently comfortable upper and step-in feel. Out on the run, we found it to be very workmanlike. It’s not a shoe that will assist you, it just gets out of the way and lets you do the work. The ride is decently smooth and feels more cushioned than the stack height and it feels about 20% livelier than the Ghost. It is not a super soft ride and it’s not very peppy, but it is a solid shoe with no real problems. However, this is not a shoe for someone who has multiple shoes in their rotation and is looking for something exciting or fun. It’s for someone who wants one shoe to do every type of run—it is a basic, mid-tier, entry-level daily trainer.
