The Brooks Hyperion Max 3 is a max stack training shoe built for both speed and mileage. Priced at $200, it competes with models like the Hoka Mach X2 ($190) and the ASICS Superblast 2 ($200). There has been a clear evolution with each version of the Hyperion Max, and v3 is the best yet. It now features Brooks’ PEBA-based DNA Gold foam alongside the DNA Flash v2 (an EVA/TPEE blend) from v2, plus the nylon SpeedVault plate. The heel stack height has increased significantly—now up near 46mm—which also brings a significant increase in weight. The upper has been updated with a bootie-style construction, offering a secure, low-volume fit and a built-up, stable heel. The step-in feel is on the firmer side, but on the run, it delivers a robust, goldilocks foam feel—not too firm, not too soft. The rocker geometry creates a smooth, floaty ride and helps you roll effortlessly through each stride. It’s big, wide, stable, cushioned, and while not lightweight or especially sleek, it brings serious bounce—think of it as a training version of the OG Cielo X1. If you liked the Cielo X1 OG or the Adios Pro 3, you will really enjoy this shoe. The Hyperion Max 3 feels like a rotation killer—a workhorse daily trainer with enough speed, protection, and fun to handle just about anything. We found it easy to turn the legs over and cruise at marathon pace with ease. And the durability is proven: Grant, Supwell’s social media manager, has already logged 500 miles in his pair. We’re calling it now—this is going to be a Supwell classic—a certified banger!
