Craft Atmosfar 1

The Craft Atmosfar 1 is an all new max cushioned daily trainer designed for comfort and protection over long miles. At $190, it competes with models like the Nike Vomero Premium ($230) and the ASICS Superblast 3 ($210). The Atmosfar 1 features a 51mm stack of beaded eTPU foam while weighing in at only 256 grams in our Men’s US size 10.5. The upper is improved over other Craft shoes and is lightweight and non-bothersome, but it does have a highly curved toebox, so you might want to consider going a half size up if that bothers you. The outsole has a very thin layer of rubber. Despite the foam feeling soft and squishy to the touch, the foam is actually more in the goldilocks zone and it didn’t feel super soft out on the run. It doesn’t ride quite as light as it measures because there is a lot of foam underfoot. It has more get-up-and-go than a Superblast 3, Paramount Max or Gel-Nimbus and you have to put more force down into the shoe to get the foam going, so it lends itself to faster efforts and paces. The geometry at the slower paces doesn’t feel as smooth, but at moderate to uptempo efforts, the geometry and foam feels really good and responsive. If you are a bigger runner or you don’t like super soft and squishy foams, but you want a lot of protection and cushioning, or you want a max stack shoe that can pick up the pace, the Atmos far will be a great option.
