The Dynafish Xiaonian is a lightweight super trainer engineered for speed. With a high stack of foam and attractive pricepoint, hobby joggers have been fiending for a review of this shoe and some insights as to how this Chinese brand shoe compares to shoes like the Nike Vomero Plus, Adidas Evo SL, and the ASICS Megablast. While not easy to come by, we were able to get a pair on the Supwell app for testing. It is a non-plated shoe with a single layer of a TPEE foam. It is extremely lightweight (206 grams in our Men’s size 10.5) compared to others in the market, especially for having 41mm of foam in the heel. The step-in feel is very soft, light and roomy in the toebox and midfoot. The tongue is soft and stretchy and the upper is very secure and dialed. Out on the run we found it to have a very smooth ride. The foam feels very similar to the Lightstrike Pro in the Evo SL but there is more of a heel bevel in the Xiaonian. The geometry is great, the bounce is good, and it gets you up onto your toes quickly. It feels very cushioned and more protective than the Evo SL (more like the Vomero Plus) with the same accessible, approachable speed trainer feel of the Evo SL without the true race foam capabilities of the Megablast. If you are looking for a slightly softer, higher stack Evo SL with a more accommodating heel geometry, the Xiaonian is a great pick.
