Mizuno Sky Prime

The Mizuno Sky Prime is an all-new max-cushioned recovery shoe designed for comfort and bounce. At $200, it competes with models like the ASICS Superblast 3 ($210) and the Nike Vomero Premium ($230). The Sky Prime has more of an old-school feel that we really like for recovery runs. It doesn't have an aggressive rocker or crazy bouncy foam. With 47mm in the heel and a 6mm drop, it feels very max stack. The fit is comfortable and secure with a heavily padded upper and a sock-like feel. Out on the run we found the shoe to be incredibly smooth and pleasant to run in. The rocker geometry works really well and allows you to roll through your stride without feeling overly aggressive. The wide heel also provides a good amount of stability for a shoe with this much cushioning. The foam is soft and comfortable on top, giving the shoe a nice amount of bounce, while the denser bottom layer provides plenty of cushioning and protection. The result is a very relaxed ride that feels great when you don't want to push the pace. There is enough modern technology here to keep the shoe fun, but it still has the traditional max-cushioned feel that makes it such a good recovery shoe. If you're looking for a comfortable max-cushioned cruiser for easy and recovery runs, the Sky Prime is a great option. It's especially good for high-mileage training when you want plenty of protection without a shoe that's going to encourage you to run faster.
