The Wave Rebellion Flash 2 is Mizuno’s newest plated training shoe to hit the market. Priced at $170, it competes with models like the Boston 12 ($160) and the Takumi Sen 10 ($180). Released in January 2024, it features a dual-foam construction, a 35mm stack height, and a glass fiber waveplate. Its build is similar to popular plated trainers like the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 and Adidas Boston 12, but the unique heel cutout and aggressive rocker geometry give it a distinctly different feel on the run. It feels really good and comfortable when running with strength on your forefoot, but if you're primarily a midfoot or heel striker, it can feel a bit awkward at slower paces. While it’s not as bouncy as the Adidas Takumi Sen or Adidas Boston 12, once you pick up the pace, it delivers a responsive and well-protected ride. If you're looking for a comfortable yet specialized plated training shoe for fast intervals or track-style workouts, the Wave Rebellion Flash 2 could be a great option.
