The Salomon Aero Glide 4 is a cushioned daily trainer designed for versatility. Priced at $160, it competes with shoes like the New Balance 1080v15 ($170) and Nike Vomero 18 ($155). We affectionately coined the previous version the Aero Goat 3 because of its reliable, smooth, cushioned feel for stacking daily miles. This new version is just an upper update, keeping the midsole foam and geometry exactly the same as the previous version, which we were happy to hear since it was the highlight of the shoe. The new upper feels similar to the previous one with some minor changes to the lacing system and a slightly more dialed fit, while still remaining roomy in the toebox, especially in the length. The step-in feel is good and comfortable and the foam feels on the firmer side of Goldilocks zone. The beaded TPU foam is one that softens with time and has excellent durability. Out on the run, it was as we expected—cushioned, bouncy, easy to run in, and energetic. You get over 40mm of foam in the heel, but you aren’t fighting over it like you do in some softer shoes due to the 8mm drop and firmer foam. Once again, the Salomon Aero Glide 4 is a very solid, stable, simple daily trainer with a very normal geometry, but with an energetic, elevated foam.
