The Nike Vomero 18 is a max cushioned shoe designed for running and everyday use. Priced at $150, it competes with max stack stalwarts like the Hoka Bondi 9 ($170) and Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 ($165). Here we will provide an overview of the Vomero 18, let you know how we use it in our training, and let you know our thoughts after 100 miles.
The Nike Vomero 18 has been a pleasant surprise for us at Supwell. We don't always take shoes up to 100 miles anymore, but we kept reaching for this shoe during our training. Below, we break down four reasons why we like the Vomero 18, what types of training runs it is best for, and how it’s held up after 100 miles of use.
The Vomero 18 delivers a soft, squishy step-in feel and an overall high level of comfort. The tongue and upper are nicely padded, the fit is forgiving, and the wide base helps it avoid the narrow, restrictive feel you sometimes find in other Nike trainers. From the moment you lace it up, the experience is smooth and easy—it’s honestly one of the most comfortable shoes to put on. You don’t have to wrestle with the upper like you do in shoes such as the Mach X2 or Neo Zen. Some days, you just want a run that’s hassle-free—and this shoe makes getting out the door that much easier. The upper materials also feel premium and high-quality, adding to the overall comfort.
The foam provides a smooth, reliable, and balanced ride. No matter your foot strike—heel, midfoot, or forefoot—it just feels good. The Vomero 18 is easy to run in, even on days when your legs feel beat up. It doesn’t force you to go faster than you want, yet it doesn't feel too sluggish or heavy. With a minimal rocker design, it's ideal for slower efforts where you might be landing more towards the back of the platform.
Not only is the Vomero 18 a great daily trainer, it is also Supwell Certified for casual use. It provides all-day comfort for walking, standing, road trips, and travel in style.
Thanks to the high stack height and the bottom layer of ReactX foam, the Vomero 18 offers solid protection without feeling overly bulky. It really shines on recovery runs of up to an hour. While the ReactX foam carrier doesn’t hold up as well on runs longer than 60 minutes, for most daily runs, the combination of ZoomX on top and ReactX on the bottom delivers dependable cushion and comfort without bottoming out.

Some runners don’t love the sensation of being tipped forward by a 10mm drop. However, we didn’t find it distracting or uncomfortable during runs or walks. That said, the lower stack in the forefoot (due to the drop), combined with ReactX foam stiffening up past the hour mark, makes this less ideal for long-distance efforts.
When your legs are feeling tired, the Vomero 18’s heavier weight, absence of a rocker, and less bouncy foam—especially compared to shoes like the Mizuno Neo Vista 2—can make it harder to get your legs turning over. It’s definitely not a shoe designed to help you pick up the pace.
The Vomero 18 excels in comfort, reliability, and simplicity. For relaxed, easy miles up to an hour, it’s one of the best shoes you can lace up in 2025. It’s not flashy, but it gets the job done—and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
