Below we will break down where you will find each version of this beloved foam across Adidas’ road running shoe lineup in 2025.
Lightstrike Pro Evo
Lightstrike Pro Evo is Adidas’ pinnacle race foam found only in the $500 Adizero Pro Evo 2. Calling back to the dense, dependable ride quality of the Adios Pro 3, LSP Evo provides the ultimate in leg-saving bounce for the marathon distance. The fact that LSP Evo isn’t compression molded like other race day compounds grants it an unbelievably light weight, helping the Pro Evo 2 achieve a weight-stack ratio unlike anything else on the market. This is an accessible, protective, and structured race foam that we predict will work well for elite and Hobby Jogger marathoners alike.

Classic Lightstrike Pro
Featured in the legendary Adios Pro 3, Hobby Joggers love Classic Lightstrike Pro for its bouncy, reliable, and stable ride. Although being phased out of Adidas’ race shoe lineup (the Takumi Sen 10 is the last of a dying breed), Classic LSP can still be found in a number of popular training shoes due to its incredible durability. Implemented in everything from nimble, bouncy uptempo Zone 3 Champions, like the EVO SL, to fun, peppy daily trainers such as the SL2, to max stack plated behemoths like the Prime X2 Strung, Classic LSP is a chameleon that blends perfectly into whatever shoe design it inhabits.

Current-Generation Lightstrike Pro
While Classic Lightstrike Pro was known for its consistent feel across wildly different implementations, the current generation is more varied in the ride experience it delivers. In the Adios Pro 4, it reads extremely soft and squishy, abandoning the planted, sturdy bounce of its predecessor. In the Adios 9, it feels much firmer, offering a grounded ride for interval-style efforts. Our favorite implementation is in the Boston 13, which combines 2025 LSP with glass fiber rods for added pop and a bottom layer of stable, durable Lightstrike 2.0 EVA.
