ASICS Gel-SlowCush

The ASICS Gel-Slowcush is an all-new model designed for comfort and cushion. Debuting the FF Luxe+ foam and featuring a gel unit in the heel, it's purpose built for relaxed days as an antidote to the super foam super trainers flooding the market in 2026. At $200, it competes with models like the Nike Vomero Premium ($230) and the Mizuno Sky Prime ($200). In this new shoe from ASICS, they are launching the brand new FF Luxe+ supercritical foam that is made with an undisclosed, non-EVA, compound. It features a fairly rigid heel counter, probably to help stabilize your foot on the soft midsole foam. The step-in feel is very nice but not overly soft, and the upper is plush and very comfortable. Unlike some of the max cushion shoes on the market, it doesn’t feel too boaty or wide. With the gel pod in the heel, the feel is reminiscent of the Gel-Nimbus line. Out on the run, we found the ride to be cushioned, protective, and smooth. It has a subtle bounce and nice roll if you land on the heel. The Gel-SlowCush shoe performs exactly as it was intended, which is to make slower, recovery paced miles feel pleasant and comfortable. While it is not a versatile shoe, it is perfect for recovery miles and performed well even into the later miles of the run. If you like having a rotation of running shoes and enjoy soft comfort for your recovery days, this is a perfect choice.
