The Metaspeed Edge Paris is Asics’ newest racing shoe, designed for speed over the marathon distance. Released alongside the Metaspeed Sky Paris and priced at $250, it competes with shoes like the Saucony Endorphin Elite ($275), Nike Alphafly Next% 3 ($285), and Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 ($230). Both the Sky and Edge feature a 5mm heel-to-toe drop and FFTurbo+ race foam, but they differ in the placement of the carbon fiber plate—the Edge Paris has the plate positioned lower in the forefoot. It’s marketed as the better option for cadence-style (versus stride-style) runners. The Edge Paris is narrower, lighter, and nimbler than the Alphafly 3 and most other marathon race-day shoes on the market. It’s also less aggressive than the Sky Paris, which makes it, in our opinion, the better option for marathon training and racing. If you’re looking for a fast training shoe and a marathon race-day option with a smooth rocker and more comfort over long distances than the Sky Paris, we believe the Edge Paris is an excellent choice.
