The Brooks Glycerin Max 2 is a max stack training shoe designed for relaxed runs and long miles. Priced at $200, it competes with shoes like the Nike Vomero Plus ($180) and Puma MagMax 2 ($180). The original Glycerin Max, which we’ve affectionately coined, the Glizzy Max, made a huge splash in 2024, so we came into this review with high expectations. The specifications of the Glycerin Max 2, specifically its weight (346 grams in our M10.5), are not particularly impressive, and is around 5% (~ 15 grams) heavier than the original version. On foot, however, the Glycerin Max 2 offers a somewhat firmer, more stable ride, while still facilitating smooth turnover thanks to its improved forefoot rocker geometry. The 48 mm of heel stack delivers ample protection and comfort, making the Glycerin Max 2 especially great for recovery miles and long, slow runs. Although we tend to avoid prescribing shoes based solely on foot strike and gait mechanics, the Glycerin Max 2's less pronounced heel geometry makes it feel better suited for self-proclaimed midfoot strikers and would pair well with options like the R.A.D UFO and Adidas Evo SL.
