The GS:RAR is Speedland’s carbon-plated race shoe, featuring a thick stack of race foam, designed for all terrains and specialized for the trails. Priced at $275, it offers an optional $35 add-on carbon plate and competes with models like the Hoka Tecton X3 ($275) and Adidas Agravic Speed Ultra ($220). This version pays tribute to Cameron Hanes’ final hunt in Alaska with his friend, Roy Roth. The bottom layer of foam has been updated to a beaded HTPU, while the Carbitex drop-in carbon fiber plate and the supercritical PEBAX insole remain unchanged. The new beaded HTPU foam feels noticeably bouncy and explosive. Performance-wise, the GS:RAR excels—it’s protective, soft, and responsive. It’s not as soft as the Hoka Tecton X3, not as firm as the Norda, but significantly bouncier than the Nike Zegama. The main downside is the Michelin rubber outsole, which struggles on slick or smooth surfaces like bridges or wet leaves. Still, the Speedland GS:RAR is a true trail racing weapon, especially for longer distances—a max-cushioned, trail-specific, Supwell-certified beast.
