The Tecton X3 is Hoka’s latest iteration of its plated trail shoe, built to be light, nimble, and comfortable. Priced at $275, it goes up against competitors like the Nike Ultrafly Trail ($260) and the Adidas Agravic Speed Ultra ($220). With two layers of PEBA foam in the midsole, parallel winged carbon fiber plates, and a well-designed rocker, the Tecton X3 delivers a bouncy and comfortable ride. It feels like a max-cushioned road shoe adapted for the trails—with a bit of speed—almost like a trail version of the Cielo X1. In contrast, the Nike Zegama comes across as harsher and more aggressive. The Tecton X3 also performs well on any surface and at any pace; you don’t need to put as much force to get moving as you would with the Zegama or the Norda. While it’s priced higher than its rivals, if you're after a fun, stable, fast, and unparalleled ride, the Tecton X3 is definitely worth a look.
