The Zegama Trail 2 is Nike’s max-cushion trail shoe designed for comfort and endurance. The Zegama stands apart from the Nike Pegasus Trail Gore-Tex—it features a legit Vibram rubber outsole and more aggressive chevron-patterned 4 mm lugs. It’s also more stable than the Asics Agravic Speed, thanks to the chunkier heel and lower stack. The ZoomX foam isn’t quite as bouncy as what you’ll find in the Alphafly, but it really comes alive on downhills and when you put more force into it. Despite having 35 mm of foam in the heel, there’s still a lot of ground feel—especially on rocky terrain. It performed decently well on climbs and in mud, as long as conditions weren’t too slick. The shoe feels planted and sturdy, and the upper is excellent—possibly the best trail upper out there. Salomon trail shoes tend to run narrow and feel constricting, Norda uses premium materials but they can irritate the Achilles, and Craft shoes often have a baggy upper. This is an elevated trail workhorse—like a dependable road daily trainer, but built for the trails. If you're looking for a comfortable, cushioned, fun, supportive, and reliable trail shoe for long distances, the Zegama is a fantastic pick.
