Here we take a look at the 5 Best Speed Training Shoes on the market in June 2025. Find out if any new shoes made the list and where the ASICS Magic Speed 4, Hoka Mach X2, Adidas Boston 13, Saucony Endorphin Speed 5, and Skechers Aero Tempo landed. We will tell you why each shoe made our power rankings list this month and how to choose which speed training shoe is right for you.

Welcome to the June 2025 speed training shoe edition of the Supwell Power Rankings! We launched this series as a way to keep a running list of the best shoes on the market updated each month. Below is our top 5 list of speed training shoes right now. Editor’s note: Our criteria for this list is enjoyment, mileage accumulation on the Supwell team, adoption in the hobby jogger community, US market availability and price/value. This is our fourth speed training list, last month’s list for Top 5 Speed Training Shoes of May 2025 was: Adidas Boston 13, Hoka Mach X2, ASICS Magic Speed 4, Nike Pegasus Plus, and On Cloudboom Zone.

The Boston 13 is still the best shoe we’ve tested this year for pure speed workouts—plus it has enough comfort for daily mileage and even 20 mile long runs. If you want to save your $250 Carbon County shoes for race day, this is the top option for training. The race foam, training foam and rods come together beautifully to deliver speed with just enough comfort.

Tons of speed shoes and max stack shoes have dropped this year, but none thread the needle quite like the Mach X2. Most recent plated releases lean toward accessible speed (Speed 5, Boston 13) or maximum comfort (Neo Vista 2). The Mach X2 does a great job offering protection for longer miles while still being a highly capable option for speed workouts.

The king is gosh dang back, baby. Saucony did a fantastic job with this update, returning it to what so many hobby joggers loved about the Speed 2 and Speed 3. This version is bouncy, soft but not soupy, and has just enough snap for steady to marathon effort miles for most runners. This isn’t an aggressive race shoe for top-end speed—but that’s exactly why we love it. Long live the king.

Skechers made a top 5 speed shoe. Yes, you read that right. The Skechers Aero Tempo surprised many of us with one of the most aggressive, explosive and outright demon-time inducing rides of the year last month. It’s like a Boston 12 dipped in battery acid—don’t expect comfort. One watch out: this fits narrow, so the Wide Foot Fam will want to pass on this one.

The Magic Speed 4 is clinging to its top 5 position on this list for executing on the most important quality we look for in a running shoe—accomplishing its intended purpose well. This isn’t the most stacked, bounciest or fastest, but it delivers a smooth, comfortable and highly capable ride for any workout you can throw at it. Get this for no-nonsense performance.
