Grading the Nike Pegasus Plus 2
Below we are grading the Nike Pegasus Plus 2 on its midsole, outsole, upper, design, and step-in comfort to help you decide if it is one you should add to your running shoe rotation.
Nike recently dropped the Pegasus Plus 2 to compete in the speed daily segment. With a reworked ZoomX training foam and an exposed forefoot Air unit, this version prioritizes daily training comfort and versatility instead of speed and aggression (aka not an Adidas Evo SL killer). In our testing, we found this to be a solid option that will suit Nike fans and runners looking for a shoe to do everything.

Midsole—B
The ZoomX foam used in the Pegasus Plus 2 is a comfortable, solid daily training midsole compound that isn’t as fast as we expected. The Air Zoom unit in the forefoot doesn’t detract from the ride, but it doesn’t provide much additional pop either. The ride offers the reliable, versatile character the Pegasus is known for in a more cushioned package.
Upper—A-
The Pegasus Plus 2 has a very pleasant upper that’s much higher volume and more accommodating than the Pegasus Plus 1.
Outsole—A-
The Pegasus Plus 2 has good outsole rubber coverage that we expect to hold up well for high mileage use.
Step-in Feel—B+
It has a padded, comfort-oriented step-in feel as opposed to a restrictive, performance-focused lockdown feel like you can find in some Nike trainers.
Design—B+
This looks more like the Nike Pegasus than the actual Pegasus. NFL coaches and equipment staffers are going to love these.
