Here we are taking a look at Saucony as a running shoe brand and the ups and downs over the past year with some of the new releases—including the Endorphin Elite 2, Endorphin Trainer, Speed 5, and the Hurricane 25—and where we think they are headed with upcoming releases.
Welcome back to The Mileage Index. Where we track each brand’s momentum throughout the year based on our testing and reviews from the hobby jogger community. This time it’s all about Saucony.
2024 started with stable but unexciting drops like the Hurricane 24 and Tempus 2–beloved by fans, but not moving the needle. Momentum stayed flat with the Ride 18, leaving many wondering if Saucony had lost its spark. Then March hit and the Endorphin Elite 2 and Endorphin Trainer dropped, igniting Saucony’s stock with new IncrediRun midsoles and a perfect balance of comfort and hype. After a stumble with the disappointing Triumph 23, the Endorphin Speed 5 brought back the fun, and the Hurricane 25 perfected its formula, keeping Saucony’s trajectory bullish.
The Hurricane 24 delivered cushioned, stable everyday comfort for running and casual use alike. While beloved by enthusiasts, this isn’t the kind of shoe that generates broader brand momentum.
The Tempus used to have a cult following in the running community, but the Tempus 2 proved that the market has moved on. This was a simple upper update that didn’t move the needle for Saucony.
The Ride 18 was a solid workhorse daily trainer, but once again, it didn’t light the world on fire. Saucony needed a new hype king to get momentum back on their side.
This was just what Saucony needed. The Endorphin Elite 2 saw the introduction of Saucony’s ultra-soft, bouncy IncrediRun, one of the most innovative midsole compounds of the 2020s.
Saucony released a max cushion banger in the Endorphin Trainer, which features a dual foam IncrediRun / EVA midsole designed for high mileage cruising.
The Triumph 23 was one of the most disappointing shoes of the year. Clunky and lifeless, the Triumph had us questioning whether or not Saucony was falling off again.
In the 5th iteration of the Endorphin Speed, Saucony restored the line to its former glory, bringing back the fun, bouncy and snappy ride of the Speed 3.
The Hurricane 25 perfected the formula put out by the 24, offering a perfect balance of bounce, comfort and stability. This is a top pick for smooth, relaxed miles.
