The Salomon Aero Glide 3 is a max-cushioned daily trainer built for comfort and versatility. Priced at $160, it was released earlier this year and quickly became one of our all-time favorite daily trainers—arguably the best daily trainer to come out in the last two years. Here's our update after 100 miles of use.
The Salomon Aero Glide 3 is one of those shoes that just makes us say, "Gosh Dang!" Below we will share four reasons why it is still our favorite daily trainer of 2025 after 100 miles.
The midsole is the heart of any running shoe, and Salomon nailed it with the Aero Glide 3. The star of the show is the EnergyFoam Evo, a beaded TPU foam with no gimmicks—just a well-balanced, responsive, and cushioned ride. It’s the same type of foam that is used in the Adidas Ultraboost, and we’re now seeing similar beaded TPU foams pop up in Mizuno models and (rumor has it) in the next update to the New Balance 1080 line. Step-in comfort is excellent—not too soft, not too firm. It feels stable, supportive, and cushioned without being heavy or clunky.
The Aero Glide 3 offers an ideal blend of comfort and bounce. It's not too aggressive, but it delivers a consistently smooth and enjoyable ride. Compared to other max-cushion shoes, it’s noticeably lighter while still offering plenty of energy return and underfoot protection.
Unlike the Nike Vomero 18, which we love for true recovery up to an hour, the Aero Glide 3 holds its own on long runs, too. The foam maintains its bounce and protection even past the 90-minute or 2-hour mark. Compared to the Puma MagMax—our favorite in the max-cushion segment—the Aero Glide 3 is lighter and turns over more easily, requiring less effort to move at a steady pace.
This shoe hits that rare sweet spot of bounce, protection, stability, and smoothness—all in a lightweight package. It offers the comfort of a New Balance 1080 v13, the range and versatility of the Saucony Triumph 20 or 21, and the protection of the Puma MagMax.
The biggest downside is the outsole rubber. At just 80 miles, we noticed significant wear in the heel —exposing the previously protected foam in our highest wear area. We’ve also heard similar feedback from other hobby joggers. This may not be an issue if you have a neutral wear pattern or are more of a midfoot/forefoot striker.
The fit is slightly generous in the midfoot and forefoot. If you have a narrow or low-volume foot, consider going down a half size for a more secure fit.
After 100 miles, the Aero Glide 3 has absolutely maintained its GOAT status. It’s still a Supwell-certified banger and remains our top pick for best daily trainer of 2025 thus far.
Also worth checking out: the Salomon Aero Glide 3 GRVL version. It’s built for light trails, gravel paths, and offers improved wet-weather traction and overall durability.
