Here we are ranking the daily trainers currently on the market in 2025. See where the new ASICS Megablast, Puma Magnify Nitro 3, New Balance Rebel v5, ASICS Novablast 5, Nike Vomero 18, Adidas SL2, Mizuno Neo Zen, Brooks Ghost 17, Hoka Mach 6, and others land based on their ability to help you achieve your mileage goals week after week.
Welcome to Supwell’s daily trainer tier list, where we rank the bread-and-butter shoes that make up the miles week after week. We combed through 2025’s lineup of trainers and sorted them from brick to banger. At the very top, you’ll find standout pairs like the Megablast, Aero Goat 3, and Novablast 5—shoes that bring energy, cushion, and versatility every run. But not every trainer hits the mark… whether it’s dull midsoles, outdated rides, or uninspired updates, some ended up in the lower rungs of the list. This is the latest drop in our tier list series.
The Megablast is in a league of its own in the daily trainer category. Combining comfort and speed capability in a lightweight, bouncy, and protective package, this shoe can handle anything you throw at it—from 3+ hour long runs to track-style intervals. You won’t find a better do-it-all high mileage training companion.
These are the shoes we’ve kept coming back to throughout 2025 despite the steady flow of great daily trainers being released each month. There’s something for everyone here. Looking for a bouncy and versatile training companion? Try the Salomon Aero Glide 3 or ASICS Novablast 5. If you want a shoe that is flexible and lower-stack, check out the Adidas SL2 or Puma Velocity Nitro 4. If you prefer a daily trainer that is soft and has a smooth ride, try the Mizuno Neo Zen or Puma Magnify Nitro 3. If you prefer a more traditional and cushioned ride, check out the Hoka Skyflow.
This is a group of highly-capable, workmanlike daily trainers. The Hoka Clifton 10, Saucony Ride 18, New Balance 880v15, ASICS Gel Cumulus 27, Brooks Ghost 17 and Nike Vomero 18 are all great options for beginners or runners seeking a no-frills, yet comfortable ride experience. The On Cloudmonster Hyper shines for those who land on the front of the platform, and the Hoka Mach 6 delivers a run and fast ride thanks to its supercritical EVA midsole.
With so many great options on the market, we’d recommend waiting for a deal before picking any of these up. We found both the New Balance Rebel v5 and 1080v14 to be too soft for high mileage training, the Adidas Ultraboost 5x delivered a lackluster ride for its steep $180 tag, and the Adidas Supernova Prima 2 is comfortable, but underwhelming when compared to other cushioned daily trainers.
Not every daily trainer can be a winner. While popular, the Nike Pegasus 41 has a bland, overly-firm midsole foam and an Air Zoom unit that contributes nothing to the ride, the Hoka Rincon 4 feels like it was pulled straight from the Marshall’s bargain rack, the Saucony Triumph 23 lacks a clear identity in the cushioned daily trainer market, and the Adidas Adistar 4 is riddled with quality control issues.
These models embody everything wrong with running shoe marketing in 2025. On positioned the Cloudsurfer 2 as a soft, ultra-comfortable daily trainer with a “superfoam” midsole, only to deliver a standard EVA brick. With the Glycerin 22, Brooks sold us on the idea of a midsole carefully “tuned” for optimal daily training capabilities, only to release one of the most lifeless shoes we’ve ever tried.
