After more than 100 miles, we are even more in love with the Dynafish Xiaonian. See below why it was named Supwell’s 2026 Newcomer of the Year and find out how we’ve been using the Dynafish Xiaonian in our running shoe rotation and how you can get it for yourself at HobbyJogger.com.

The Dynafish Xiaonian might be the most sought after Chinese running shoe. The most impressive feature is that it weighs less than many of the carbon-plated race shoes on the market, yet features a high stack of supercritical TPEE race foam in a very comfortable daily trainer package. We have enjoyed running in it so much that we decided to become the official Dynafish Xiaonian retailer in the US.

The Xiaonian is a super lightweight trainer, coming in at just 202g in our size Men's size 10.5, which is significantly lighter than anything on the market in the daily training, super trainer, or max stack category. With 41mm of supercritical TPEE in the heel and 43mm in the midfoot, you are getting a huge stack of protective, responsive foam in a super lightweight package. Many of the carbon-plated racers on the market right now—including the Adidas Adios Pro 4, Nike Alphafly 3, Saucony Endorphin Elite 3, Hoka Cielo X1 3.0, and Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite, just to name a few—aren't even as light as the Xiaonian, and they only have 40mm of foam or less in the heel. The light weight of the Xiaonian is really noticeable on the run and makes it really easy to turn your legs over when you are tired or want to pick up the pace. Even though it is as light or lighter than a lot of race shoes, it is built for comfort and protection for everyday miles.

The Xiaonian is a unique specimen and is one of the most versatile shoes we've ever tested. Lighter than a race shoe, it boasts over 40mm of bouncy supercritical TPEE foam and an aggressive rocker. It's a super trainer that can handle any run on the calendar from daily miles to interval sessions to 20 mile long runs. The Goldilocks foam is not too soft and not too firm and it has a very protective, cushioned, and energetic quality that makes it great for high mileage training. It delivers a ride that blends the cushioning and protection of the Vomero Plus with the aggressive geometry and race foam of the Evo SL, this is one of the most versatile trainers we’ve tested. Because it is unplated, it is a great daily trainer option with good speed assistance. Whether it’s daily miles, long runs, workouts, or marathon training, the Xiaonian continues to put a smile on our faces.

The Xiaonian features a CPU outsole that is light weight and super grippy. Unlike a lot of daily trainers that have thick rubber outsoles, the CPU outsole allows the Xiaonian to be nimble and flexible while also have great traction. It performs beautifully on wet or slippery surfaces and we've never had any trouble with it on any surfaces or in wet conditions.
We have our first pair of the Xiaonian up over 100 miles and the outsole is holding up well with very little wear. The foam also just keeps getting better and better with more miles. The foam is just as responsible and bouncy as it is out of the box and it actually feels a bit softer and performs better the more you wear it. We don't see any signs of the foam deteriorating, bottoming out, or declining in performance.
At $150, you can't beat the Xiaonian in terms of value. The only other true, speed-oriented, lighter weight performance running shoes on the market coming in at $150 are the Adidas Evo SL, Saucony Endorphin Azura, R.A.D Synth and the TYR Maverick-V1 Runner. But none of these shoes can offer the total package that you get with the Xiaonian.

The only time when the Xiaonian doesn’t work really well is for true recovery or relaxed miles. It is not a super plush recovery shoe even though it does handle relaxed miles better than something like the Evo SL. It is definitely a super trainer that has aspirations towards speed. There are definitely better shoes out there for true recovery days. But if you are looking for a lightweight daily trainer or a high mileage marathon training shoe, it is the perfect option.
The Dynafish Xiaonian has been a favorite of the Supwell team this year. We've loved it so much that we wanted to make it available and easily accessible to everyone in the US. We're excited to announce that we are now the official US retailer for Dynafish and are offering the Xiaonian on hobbyjogger.com direct in the states with fast shipping and American sizing.
