With a bunch of new max cushion shoes hitting the market, we wanted to update our top 5 max cushion running shoe list for March 2026. See below which 3 new shoes made our list and which ones fell off our previous rankings as well as where the Nike Vomero Plus, On Cloudmonster 3 Hyper, ASICS Superblast 3, Adidas Hyperboost Edge, and Nike Vomero Premium landed this month.

Welcome to the next max cushion edition of the Supwell Power Rankings. We launched this series as a way to keep a running list of the best shoes on the market updated each month. Here are our 5 best max cushion shoes right now. *Editor’s note: Our criteria for this list is enjoyment, mileage accumulation on the Supwell team, adoption in the hobby jogger community, US market availability and price/value. Our top 5 max cushion list for January 2026 included: the Nike Vomero Premium at number one followed by the Vomero Plus at number two, the ASICS Gel Nimbus 28 in third, the Puma MagMax 2 in fourth, and the Brooks Glycerin Flex coming in last.

SuperBrick no more—ASICS listened to consumer feedback and just delivered the best Superblast yet. No other shoe on the market so perfectly combines stability with a soft, compressive foam. We applaud ASICS for using the real FF Leap here, which provides a bouncy, dynamic, and protective ride for high mileage training. This shoe is so good it might just save your marriage.

The Hyperboost Edge might be our favorite shoe right now. Combining the rocker geometry of an uptempo shoe like the Evo SL, the peppy feel of the Megablast, the protection of the Superblast and the soft comfort of the Vomero Plus, Adidas has finally delivered the top tier max cushion shoe that’s been missing from their lineup.

New models like the Superblast 3 and Hyperboost Edge have stolen Nike’s thunder this month, but the Vomero Plus is still getting plenty of play in Hobby Joggers’ rotations as one of the best max cushion daily trainers on the market.

Nike’s max stack behemoth falls three spots in our power rankings this month. With the Red Hare 9 Ultra providing a similar underfoot feel at a significantly lighter weight, the Vomero Premium’s midsole doesn’t feel as novel anymore. Regardless, this is still an excellent pick for taking the burden off the legs during injury recovery or base-building periods.

The Cloudmonster 3 Hyper is a huge step forward for On, improving over the previous generation with a full length slab of PEBA and a much more dialled upper. In contrast to other shoes on this list, the Cloudmonster 3 Hyper doesn’t have a crazy ride or uncontrolled bounce—and we love it for that. This is a reliable, protective mileage companion that we’d be happy lacing up any day of the week.
