Here we are recommending the best running shoe for your money all the way from under $100 to over $300. From bargains like the Adidas Evo SL and the Nike Winflo 12 all the way up to premium race shoes like the Puma Fast-R 3 and the Adidas Prime X EVO, we will help you pick out the best shoe for your budget.

From the $70 Evo SL to the $500 Prime X EVO, there’s a serious performance shoe at just about every budget. These are the shoes we’d look at first when trying to get the most performance for our money, with some seriously good options in the $100–$225 range.

The original Adidas Evo SL can now be found on sale for as little as $70. Skip the Pokemon X Crocs collab and grab the best value performance running shoe on the market instead. If you want to pay more for a better upper and lockdown experience, check out the Evo SL Woven or Evo SL EXO variations.

The Nike Winflo 12 is a clear standout in the budget running shoe segment, offering a premium step-in feel, excellent daily comfort for stacking mileage and a clean aesthetic.

The Dynafish Xiaonian is leaps and bounds better than the others shoes in its price bracket, delivering max cushion protection and race day speed in a lightweight daily trainer package. Other shoes retailing for $130-$145: Puma Velocity Nitro 5 and Nike Pegasus 42.

The Deviate Pure NITRO is our favorite in this camp of workhorse, versatile $150 daily trainers. It features a simple, reliable ride that’s light, peppy and also protective enough to go the distance. Other shoes retailing for $150: Saucony Endorphin Azura, Brooks Ghost Amp, and the TYR Maverick V-1 Runner.

Topo’s Specter 3 undercuts other super trainers by at least $30, offering a race-day like geometry and midsole foam for just $170. The other shoes in this price bracket simply can’t compete with the value on offer here. Other shoes retailing at $170: Brooks Glycerin Flex, New Balance 1080v15, and the Puma Deviate Nitro 4.

R.A.D. has nailed all the small details that shoe enthusiasts look for when picking up a $200 super trainer: a beautiful aesthetic, a premium step-in feel, a perfectly-tuned rocker, and a bouncy, protective foam. Other shoes retailing for $200: Adidas Hyperboost Edge, Brooks Hyperion Max 4, and the New Balance SC Rebel v1.

The Superblast 3 features a top layer of soft, peppy race foam enclosed in a firmer EVA carrier for stability, making it one of the most versatile max cushion shoes out there right now. Other shoes retailing for $210-$220: On Cloudmonster 3 Hyper

There aren’t many non-plated shoes we’d take to throw down serious pace in a workout. The Megablast is one of them. For $225, you’re getting the ultimate blend of race day speed assistance and a max cushion protection. Other shoes retailing for $225-$230: Hoka Skyward X2, ASICS Metasleek, and the Nike Vomero Premium.

The Specter Elite is the clear winner in the $250 accessible marathon racer segment, delivering a more exciting, inspired ride than more workmanlike options from more established brands. Other shoes retailing for $250: Hoka Rocket X3, Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4, and the On Cloudboom Strike 2.

$275 is now the typical price for marathon racers that blend top tier speed and comfort. While there are many excellent options in this category, the Cielo X1 3.0 still feels like the best deal thanks to its tall midfoot stack, aggressive rocker, and superb durability. Other shoes retailing at $275: Mizuno Hyperwarp Elite, New Balance SC Elite v6, and the Brooks Hyperion Elite 6.

If you’re willing to part with $300 for a racer that’ll help you hit a PR, grab the fastest, most efficient shoe on the market—the Puma Fast-R 3. Other shoes retailing at $300: Mizuno Hyperwarp Pure, ASICS Metaspeed Ray, and the Nike Alphafly 3.

We haven’t tested the Pro EVO 3 yet, but Adidas’ other $500 shoe, the Prime X EVO, actually feels worth it for its leg saving comfort. No other shoe can make 10 miles feel like 5.
